The Pipe Everything Else Depends On
Sewer line repair fixes damage in the main line itself — cracks, bellies, root masses, and failed joints.
A sewer line has one job and no backup plan. Kitchen water, shower water, laundry water, and every flush merge into this single run, usually buried from the front or side of the house toward the street. Because everything passes through it, a partial blockage deep in the line shows up as confusion upstairs: the basement toilet gurgles when the washer drains, the shower stalls while the dishwasher runs.
Repair starts with seeing. A camera sent through the line shows exactly where the pipe is damaged, what the damage is, and how much of the run it involves. That footage decides everything downstream of it: a spot repair where one joint failed, a longer renewal where a section has bellied, or clearing where roots invaded but the pipe itself remains round and sound.
Ashburn’s lines are younger than those in older Virginia towns, which works in your favor. Most were installed in PVC during the building boom, so catastrophic material failure is rare; the local stories are roots at joints, construction-era sags that collected debris for years, and the occasional line damaged by later digging or a settling trench.
